Post-Op Recovery Guide: Tummy Tuck, Lipo & BBL Must-Haves

Recovering from a tummy tuck, liposuction, BBL, or C-section? This is the post-op recovery guide and checklist we share with every patient — what to prepare, what to expect week by week, and the must-haves that make healing smoother. Always follow your surgeon's specific instructions first.

Your recovery timeline at a glance

Before surgery (prep week)

  • Confirm your surgeon's compression and ab-board timeline
  • Set up a recovery station: pillows, water, easy meals, chargers within reach
  • Get a faja in the right size and your acrylic ab board
  • Arrange a driver and a helper for the first 48 hours

Days 1–3 (the critical window)

  • Rest and hydrate; wear your compression garment as directed (usually 24/7)
  • Begin gentle, short walks to reduce swelling and clot risk
  • Keep incisions clean and dry; take medications on schedule

Days 4–10 (swelling peaks, then turns)

  • Add your ab board under the faja once your surgeon clears it
  • Keep it clean — wipe with mild soap and water (acrylic is water-resistant)
  • Eat anti-inflammatory, high-protein meals; ask about lymphatic massage

Weeks 2–6 (shaping phase)

  • Wear compression + ab board consistently to lock in your contour
  • Start approved lymphatic drainage massage if recommended
  • Reposition the board to smooth fold-prone areas and prevent fibrosis

Post-op must-haves

  • Compression garment (faja) — even, firm pressure around the clock.
  • Acrylic ab board — flattens, drains fluid, and prevents folds and fibrosis. Our pear-shaped acrylic board is water-resistant and infused with vitamins E, B & K — more hygienic than wood or foam.
  • Lateral foam pads — for comfort over bony areas.
  • A recovery pillow, electrolytes, and loose clothing.

Why the right ab board matters

Compression alone can leave fluid pockets, skin folds, and lumps (fibrosis) that are hard to fix later. A firm, hygienic board distributes pressure evenly for a smooth result. See the Elite Compression acrylic ab board → Use code WELCOME10 for 20% off your first order.

FAQ

When do I start using an ab board? Usually the first week post-op, on your surgeon's clearance, increasing wear as swelling decreases.

How long is recovery? Most patients wear compression and a board consistently for several weeks to about 3 months.

Why acrylic over wood? Acrylic is water-resistant and hygienic — it won't absorb fluid or harbor bacteria like wood or foam.
